During the month of July 2020, paramedics throughout BC were called out to 2,706 overdoses – approximately 87 overdoses a day. The new figures were recently reported by BC Emergency Health Services. The average per month has generally been about 2,000. (Source: Vancouver Sun, Aug. 5, 2020).
Health officials are reminding the public to:
- Never use alone
- Test your drugs first before you use them
- Know how to identify the signs of an overdose (see below)
- Carry Naloxone
- Call 911 if you think someone is overdosing
