As a new initiative for the Port Alberni Valley, we are pleased to announce the opening of our new Recovery Centre and are now in the process of accepting referrals! After months of study within the Recovery Centre Models for addressing addiction, we have come to fruition of our very own. We now have the opportunity to initiate a program that meets a critical need in our community. The Port Alberni Shelter Society (PASS) has created a long-term 6 bed female Recovery House to help this extremely vulnerable sector.
Situated on a beautiful 172 acre property in the Alberni Valley, it is an ideal location:
• With existing infrastructure for an immediate start
• With a land-base to operate multiple social enterprises
• Removed from residential areas
The Alberni Valley itself is a unique setting for a TRC, it is isolated from larger urban centers but still has a sizable population and services that can support social enterprises.
Our TRC is a longer-term residential treatment option (up to 2 years) that helps individuals heal and where the success rates are as high as 76 percent. The Port Alberni Shelter Society has the experience and capacity to initiate this program which is urgently needed as the province continues to struggle with an unprecedented crisis of addiction related fatalities and social issues.
Our TRC is free to attend and over time clients will work towards a stable life within the community with financial self-sufficiency. The Recovery Centre is in a field to which new beginnings and better tomorrows grow.
The Port Alberni Shelter Society is passionate about this project and would love to tell you more about how your support can heal wounds that run deep throughout Vancouver Island. We are excited by what this opportunity represents for our families, neighbours, friends and other community members.
