Food waste is a significant issue and can have negative social and environmental impacts. By recovering surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, we can reduce hunger while lightening our environmental footprint.

PASS’ food recovery and distribution initiatives are focused on reaching vulnerable communities, such as low-income households, seniors and marginalized populations.

Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday PASS picks up surplus food from Costco, No Frills, Buy Low Foods, Quality Foods, Save on Foods and Tim Hortons and redistributes these items through our Outreach Centre at 3699 3rd Ave (corner of Bute St.) in Port Alberni.

Food items are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Line up at the warehouse in the back alley behind the OPS/Sobering Site. Starts at 1pm, and runs until 2:00pm, please bring your own bags. Note times may vary depending on weather, supply, road closures. Please park on the road and not Granny’s Chicken parking lot. Thank you everyone for your help and support.
